A post from my old Marvel blog campaigning for a story by Stan Lee to win an Eisner award. It didn’t.

The Eisner Award nominees were announced the other day, and I think that many were surprised to see STAN LEE MEETS SPIDER-MAN among the contenders in the Best Short Story category. But it’s not really all that far-fetched when you think about it. This is perhaps the only year within recent memory that Stan has been eligible to win an Eisner (at least for current work, as opposed to in the Hall of Fame category, or any other similar honorarium.)
The other nominees are all worthy in their own regard, but–and I’m totally biased, as the guy who edited the story in question–I think it would be wonderful if Stan walked away with the Eisner this time. Not so much because this individual short feature was the greatest thing ever, but as the capstone of a writing career that stretches back 65 years.
So that’s my pitch to those who get to vote on this: Give Stan Lee an Eisner.
More later.
