Blah Blah Blog – Back From Wizard World LA

A post from my Marvel blog of long ago in which I talk about a convention that’s now long over and run a bunch of photographs.

Back From Wizard World LA

No time for a lot of chatter today, I’m afraid, as I’m back from Wizard World Los Angeles and have a desk that’s piling up with scripts and lettering to read.

So as a hold-over while I dig myself out, here are a couple of photographs from the show, including a number from the Prize or No-Prize panel on Sunday. While we didn’t come close to filling up the gigantic room we’d be scheduled in, we still had a decent-sized crowd, and any number of people went home with a nice-sized stack of Marvel swag.

As you can see, I was aided and abetted this time by C.B. Cebulski, who performed the duties of “Prize-Monkey”, DJ Jim McCann, who orchestrated the sound-clips for the “Sing Along With Marvel” category, and marvel.com’s own Ryan Penagos, who got pulled away from videotaping and photographing the event to serve as a human stopwatch for one of the games.

And I ought to give a special call-out of thanks to Matt Brady at Newsarama for helping to publicize the event.

I’d also promised David Finch a sketch of Captain America at one of last year’s conventions at which I was sketching–I forget which offhand. So during a lull, I knocked the thing out on Saturday and presented it to him and wife Meredith. Finch seemed a bit surprised by it at first, but seemed to like it. I also did some doodling on the tabletops, as marvel.com’s ever-present photographer caught here.

There were literally hundreds more photos takes, as well as reams of video, all of which shoudl be turning up here at the site at some point in the next week or so. And tomorrow, hopefully, a return to normalicy.

More later.
