A post from my Marvel blog of days gone by relating the story of a bit of unusual mail that we had received.

Crank File
April 28, 2007 | 1:00 AM | By Tom_Brevoort | In General
I think that most anybody who’s been in this business for any amount of time maintains a crank file–a folder or drawer filled with copies of all of the bizarre or memorable correspondence they’ve received over the years. I’ve certainly got one–and while most of it isn’t material for public consumption, there are a couple classic gems within it that I can share. Such as the letter to the left.
This letter was sent to pretty much all of the editorial staff at some point in 1997. And, as you’ve no doubt guessed, we’re still waiting to find out the identity of this mystery man who’ll be taking over our operation–or else!
And before anybody asks, no, the writer wasn’t Bill Jemas.
More later.

But, how do you know for sure?

The anti Lee stuff is rife over the internet with all sorts of wild claims these days so that part is not unexpected, but the claims and demands in that letter takes the cake. I’m just surprised we don’t see more of this kind of thing mentioned. It’s certainly an eye opener!

I see there were plenty of trolls and crackpots in the pre-internet and pre-social media days, after all.
