Another classic, and a true departure for this series, GREEN LANTERN #76 heralded a dramatic change in the title–bringing in both co-star Green Arrow and illustrator Neal Adams, and focusing the stories not on outer space threats but instead the real social problems down on Earth. The drawing here is super-dramatic, with Adams’ hyper-realistic style firmly in evidence. But it’s the color treatment, bathing everything in the green light of the shattered lantern and highlighting the destruction of the power battery against white that really grabs the eye.
