EPISODE 13 “My home! Mother! Father! Mother! They were gonna meet me here at the bus stop! Where are they? Mom, dad!” - Derek Wildstar The next episode of STAR BLAZERS didn’t make all that much of an impact on me when I was a younger viewer, but it is absolutely chilling as an adult, … Continue reading In Our Next STAR BLAZERS Adventure – Episode 13
This was the third of the three issues of FANTASTIC FOUR that I pulled out of the big bin of after-market comics at my local drug store on my first intentional foray into the world of the Marvel Universe. And in truth, it was the issue that I liked the least, though in aggregate I … Continue reading BHOC: FANTASTIC FOUR #179
Picking up where things left off yesterday, this was the second of the three consecutive issues of FANTASTIC FOUR that I bought out of the huge bin of affidavit-returns on sale at my local drug store, my very first legitimate Marvel purchases. I hadn’t stopped to think about or analyze my feelings towards what I … Continue reading BHOC: FANTASTIC FOUR #178
EPISODE 12 “It’s not just because of that wound you’ve been feeling so ill lately. I think you know that yourself. I checked the results of your physical tests just before we left Earth. Even then there were signs of radioactive poisons in your body. And Captain, your condition is getting worse!” - Dr. Sane … Continue reading In Our Next STAR BLAZERS Adventure – Episode 12
We have reached a momentous moment in my personal comic book history at long last: the point at which I started to buy a Marvel comic. It was a dull day in the summer, I had nothing going on, and so, desperate for some attention, I finally broke down and decided to read the Marvel-related … Continue reading BHOC: FANTASTIC FOUR #177
Every time my family would shop at the drugstore with the big bin of Marvel comics in it, I would dig around through it. I wasn’t at all interested in the Marvel books at this point, but I thought there was the possibility that some other titles might turn up there at some point. This … Continue reading BHOC: BRAVE AND THE BOLD #121
EPISODE 11 “Gamilon has the greatest scientists in our galaxy, but you all made one great mistake. Sometimes simple solutions are the best. And I guess the barbarians know that. They did it with their bare hands.” - Leader Desslok The third week of STAR BLAZERS broadcasts began with an episode that was really kind … Continue reading In Our Next STAR BLAZERS Adventure – Episode 11
I’m not 100% certain where I got this issue of SUPERMAN, apart from the fact that wherever it was had marked it down to only a quarter, and that it wasn’t one of my typical haunts. Like the issue of DETECTIVE COMICS we talked about last time, this could have been picked up at some … Continue reading BHOC: SUPERMAN #298
This was the one and only comic book to be found in a department store toy section that we visited. I have no idea whether it was a remnant of a broken-open 3-bag (there were no other 3-bags in evidence) or if it had come into the store somehow by accident. But beggars aren’t choosers … Continue reading BHOC: DETECTIVE COMICS #458
EPISODE 10 “Wildstar. That’s our home. And to save it, we must leave it for a while. But we’ll be back. WE’LL BE BACK!”“ - Captain Avatar The second week of STAR BLAZERS broadcasts wrapped up with an episode that was unlike anything that had been seen previously in afternoon animation. It’s an episode devoted … Continue reading In Our Next STAR BLAZERS Adventure – Episode 10
