A post from my old-time Marvel blog, this one pimping for the first issue of the Mark Millar/Bryan Hitch run on FANTASTIC FOUR.
On sale today:
FANTASTIC FOUR #554
Mark Millar. Bryan Hitch.
The comic is so good, we don’t even need to relaunch it with a new #1.
You know you want it. You know you’ll love it. Despite yourself in some cases.
So you can wait for the trade. You can wait for us to get two, three, four or more issues out on time each month hereafter before giving in.
Or you can just do what you know you’re going to do eventually, and hit your local comic shop on the way home and buy a copy.
And since you’re going to the store anyway, you may as well pick up FANTASTIC FOUR: THE LOST ADVENTURE by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby as well.
Because you’re never going to get another new Lee/Kirby comic ever again.
Some people wonder why I like Mark Millar so much. Here’s one reason, from an e-mail he sent my way the other day:
>PS Am just about to deliver the FF special tomorrow and immediately jumping into complete rewrites on the last couple of issues you got.
Sue’s funeral scene is intact (and Bryan has only drawn until there) but the third act is just too chatty and I’m scrapping the whole thing.
Crazy from a cash POV, but I know it can be better and I’m going to write the new 9th, 10th and 11th issue as Bry draws that special. We’re still in good shape, but I want to plunge right into the most exciting stuff. We can’t take our foot off the gas now.>
Guy works at what he does.
We’ve been working on this book for over a year. Now the show begins.
