Blah Blah Blog – Cancelled

A post from my old Marvel blog about fans hoping for a given title to be cancelled.

I keep seeing sentiments around the net, and have for some time now, where different fans express hopes that a given title gets cancelled. I don’t quite understand this at all–at least in terms of what the goal is.

Everybody has certain books that they like, and not every comic book is for every reader. However, some readers seem to feel like every book should be for them, or to their liking, and that any title that isn’t is somehow preventing another book they might like more from being done. But this really isn’t the case.

You like what you like–and that’s perfectly fine. And titles that fail to find enough of an audience go away. But actively rooting for failure strikes me as being similar to hoping that somebody comes down with a terminal disease–it’s not illegal, but neither is it very nice or very productive.

What did these comics ever do to you?

  1. It’s like an awful movie or an annoying song. They insult tastes just by existing. 😆

But with comics, maybe it’s the naive hope that if this bad title is cancelled, it makes way for that one series weve always hoped for… Nah, too far fetched.

But there were comics so bad I was embarrassed by them. They gave comics a bad name. “Comic booky” as an insult for poor quality didn’t come outta nowhere.
