Beautiful and graphic, the only element I don’t like is the placement of the cover copy. The bit of tombstone makes it hard to read.

Great Covers – DAREDEVIL #6
chrissamnee: greatcovers1: Here’s a very simple and effective DAREDEVIL cover by Chris Samnee. Good use is made of the color of the trade dress of the Original Sin crossover to help draw attention to the red blanket around baby Matt, and the spotlight that falls upon his mother. It’s to Samnee’s credit that all of … Continue reading Great Covers – DAREDEVIL #6

comicbookcovers: Daredevil #7, February 2012, cover by Paolo Rivera
Great Covers – DAREDEVIL #1
Paolo Rivera pulls you into the world of DAREDEVIL on this cover, visually getting across both that Matt Murdock is blind, and the manner in which his other senses allow him to navigate the city that he lives in. The graphic treatment here is strong, and by keeping the background in greytones, the lead figure … Continue reading Great Covers – DAREDEVIL #1
Great Covers – DAREDEVIL #187
Another minimalist Frank Miller cover for DAREDEVIL, this one using white space both to isolate the character and to make the size and impact of DD’s word balloon that much more pronounced.
Great Covers – DAREDEVIL #7
A great DAREDEVIL cover by Wally Wood, debuting Daredevil’s iconic and sleek red costume. On top of Wood’s slick line once again the coloring has been composed for maximum effect. Daredevil is surrounded by light blue air bubbles against which his red outfit really pops. The deep purples of the background make Namor come forward … Continue reading Great Covers – DAREDEVIL #7
Great Covers – DAREDEVIL #42
Another copy-heavy cover, this Charles Biro DAREDEVIL cover makes the most of the situation; Daredevil being unmasked. Biro’s self-signed message to the readers is sort of a precursor to the kind of self-referential copy that Stan Lee would later employ.
Great Covers – DAREDEVIL #184
This is maybe the most 1980s cover ever produced, one that tapped into the zeitgeist of the times (and also killed a proposed DAREDEVIL animated series then being shopped.) It’s a killer image, and it demands your attention. In those days, it was rare to see a super hero using a gun, and the extreme … Continue reading Great Covers – DAREDEVIL #184
BHOCOS: DAREDEVIL #42
DAREDEVIL #42 May, 1947 To this day, I continue to come across comics that had intrigued me as a child. Earlier this year, at the San Diego Comic-Con International, I finally found an affordable copy of this one, DAREDEVIL #42. I first saw this cover reproduced in the first volume of THE STERANKO HISTORY OF … Continue reading BHOCOS: DAREDEVIL #42
