The Second Story Introduction

It often takes a bit of time for characters and series to find their footing. While many have their basic broad strokes premise set out by the end of the first installment, it’s beyond that where the series begins to take shape, to become what it will eventually be known for. But this can be difficult for modern day comic book historians to study, as while it’s relatively typical for the first story of a given character to be reprinted, often again and again, the second installments tend not to get to see the light of day so regularly.

And so, this new feature. Here, we’ll be taking a look at the second stories featuring great key characters from across the History of Comics and in so doing attempt to learn just a little bit more about their evolution into the globally-recognized icons that they have become over time.
